In early 2025 we officially met in OR 3 at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati during a lung surgery. Thankfully... it wasn't either of ours! Tyler is a physician assistant for a thoracic surgeon and Rachel is a nurse anesthetist, and the patient did just fine! If you ask Rachel, it was the patient's top quality anesthesia, but if you ask Tyler, it was their impeccable surgical team's skill.

That witty banter landed us on a dinner date in Covington on an unseasonably warm March evening. The next week we saw each other three more times. After about a month, it was official! Official meaning Tyler was now obligated to help Rachel move into the home she had just purchased! We quickly realized that we loved doing everything together, from unloading boxes, to organizing cabinets, to ripping up carpet and LVP throughout the house! We also loved walking on Wassen Way and spending time with our friends.

In the fall, we went on our first big trip together, which was an Alaskan cruise and adventure! On this trip, our vacation club of friends held a few initiation rituals for Tyler that he endured perfectly, and from then on it was history. After this, we knew that we were going to be forever travel partners.

We continued to have a blast together into the fall and winter, continually finding new and fun activities with our families and friends. Around Christmas time we started talking about spending the rest of our lives together.

On February 8, 2026, we went to a gazebo overlooking the city skyline. Here, Tyler had set up photos of our journey so far and proposed. It was the easiest yes ever!
